Western Kentucky University's Senior Marketing Class has just created three groups of students who will each create a marketing plan for the Dream Team Arts "GoYoDeo" video project. Students will earn credit for their efforts, while Dream Team Arts will gain the knowledge and marketing assistance of WKU's brilliant minds.

8/1/2009: DTA's massive "GoYoDeo" project goes PPV
While the free video capabilities of GoYoDeo have been a blessing to thousands of users, DTA is now creating a means whereby people can upload video, photos and documents and turn them into pay-per-view channels. Users will charge for access to their media, allowing anyone to create and profit from original digital content.  Visit GoYoDeo to create YOUR PPV channels today.

Name: Drew Burke
Job Title: Lead Dreamer (CEO / Founder)
Primary Weapon: Words.  Seriously.
Sidearm Skills: ASP Programming, Generating Ideas, Communicating with Customers

Why He Owns: Drew started Dream Team Arts for a very specific reason:  To put together the best team possible to design and deploy Internet sites and tools to our customers.  Drew thinks big.  The next big thing on the net may be something we’re already working on.  Chances are we’re working on some other “big things” because somebody met Drew and had a conversation with him about what we could do.  Drew understands the concept (and importance) of social networks…even virtual ones that exist online.  He’s obsessed with building software that’s productive and easy to use.  He doesn’t just sell Dream Team products….he helped build them.  When your leader has that kind of tech-background and understanding of your services, you know you can hit a homerun with every project.

Drew has 14 years experience creating and managing online start-ups.  He’s the founder of multiple dot com companies, President/Co-owner of YouPriceit.com, CTO/Co-owner of iAmerica.com and worked as CTO/CEO for various tech companies from 2001 – 2007. Now he’s helping the Dream Team create and license software products in multiple markets. He’s also focused on creating applications that will drive the future of online social networking.

Quote:
“All forms of digital media, from cable television to online marketing, are going to converge at some point. We plan on standing at the crossroad where and when it happens.”

Software He Uses: Microsoft Visual Studio, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office and MS Paint.

Unrelated Talents: Master of Drums.  He also scored over a million points in Galaga.  Wow.

Name: Stephen Harrell
Job Title: Art Director
Primary Weapon: A Pencil
Sidearm Skills: Illustration, Web Design, Print Media, 3D Modeling/Animation and Flash Design

Why He Owns: We call him “skillz” at the office for a reason.  While some designers focus on one area such as Illustration or print layout, Steve serves as a graphic wrecking-ball that does it all.  He doesn’t rely on stock-photography or clip art to build a design around.  He is a full-blown artist who can draw it, paint it, digitally manipulate it, model it in 3D and animate it.  Think you know a little Photoshop?  This guy writes his email in it (ok, that’s not true, but he would if we let him).  He knows print, CSS and XHTML standards like a fluent language and can layout complex web designs without any browser compatibility problems. That means your website won’t blow up in Firefox, and when you get your brochures from the printer, your CEO won’t have a purple face.

While having 10 years experience as a designer (that’s a decade folks) is pretty important, knowing he’s been playing with Crayola pencils since he could HOLD THEM is even more substantial.  You can teach some Photoshop, but you can’t teach imagination.  He can storyboard your video or Flash movie out on paper before he opens the program.  While you’re waiting on your final product, Steve has already seen it – in his head.  Combine that with being able to use 3D modeling software so complex that it could melt your brain and you get something almost dangerous….in a good way.

Quote:
“Over the years all the design tools have become more sophisticated and easier to use, but you still can’t get around good taste and fundamental art. There are plenty of ad-agencies full of designers out there that can’t draw a stick figure or match their clothes. I really hope your next project doesn’t end up on one of their screens.”

Software He Uses: Adobe Flash, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Dreamweaver, Autodesk 3DS MAX, Pixologic ZBrush, and Minesweeper.

Unrelated Talents:  Steve can airbrush pictures on birthday cakes. Seriously. He's also a level 70 Druid.

Name: Larry Little
Job Title: Media Director
Primary Weapon: Actionscript
Sidearm Skills: Flash Design, XML scripting, Video Editing, Film-Maker

Why He Owns: There are a lot of web developers out there that can do a little Flash design.  Making a circle bounce around the screen isn’t a big deal.  What Larry does IS a big deal.  He knows the programming language called Actionscript which gives him the ability to manipulate information (even from a database) and apply it to animation and user interfaces.  In other words, he doesn’t just build “Flash Intros” for websites.  He’s more like a “Flash-Jedi”. He can create full interactive flash applications using motion or even video.  It’s like having a Disney animator who can make a cartoon out of an online shopping cart.

Larry is also the Dream Team Arts official Video guy.  He knows Adobe Premier and After Effects like the back of his hand.  He’s the man behind our high-def camera in the greenroom.  He can frame a shot like a pro and take your video, cut you out and have you dancing on top of your website in a crisp video streaming from our Flash Media Server.

That’s a lot more impressive than making circles bounce.

Quote:
"The internet is quickly migrating from the traditional text-and-picture website to a much more organic experience, where the user can directly interact with all types of media, from photos to high-definition video, animation, and even data. Flash allows a level of interaction that simply cannot be matched through any other medium."

Software He Uses: Adobe Flash, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier, Adobe After Effects, Sony Vegas, Flash Interactive Server, and Notepad.

Unrelated Talents:  Playing bass and keyboards.  Larry can also quote any line from the original Star Wars Trilogy.  Even the alien language parts.

Name: Tim Maxey
Job Title:  Chief Information Officer
Primary Weapon:  Database Design and User Application Interface
Sidearm Skills:  Classic ASP, ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#.NET, JavaScript, MSSQL and MySQL databases design and setup.

Why He Owns: When you ask Tim “Can we do this online?” he’s already thought of about six ways to pull it off before you finished your question.  Some programmers think their fast, but Tim can code without a keyboard (sorta).  He graduated from Florida State University in 1998 and starting developing database Visual Basic 5 applications. Shortly afterwards, he started to utilize Classic ASP and became the leading GUI and data programming for Florida Cities and their web content. Hired in 2004 from a company based out of Brentwood TN, Tim moved and started developing full-time in ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, MSSQL and MySQL languages in the Nashville area.

He specializes in database back-end online applications; focusing on GUI data interfacing, and GUI information data. He helps convert client/user requests into rich data and information to the end users.
In other words, he makes your online “stuff” actually work and make sense.  Users won’t stare at the screen wondering what to click next to proceed.  Tim’s applications literally hold the user’s hand while they interact with their browser.

Quote:
“If you stop learning, you are already half dead....”

Software He Uses: Microsoft Visual Studio and Calculator

Unrelated Talents:  Tim can make this cool helicopter sound effect by rapidly beating his chest with both hands.  Awesome.

Name: Christian Witt
Job Title:  Senior Applications Developer
Primary Weapon:  Information and Data Management (duh.)
Sidearm Skills: ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, .NET WebServices, WCF, JavaScript, VBA, VB6, ActionScript, MSSQL, MySQL.

Why He Owns: There are a lot of programmers running around in the software development world.  When one of those programmers starts on your project, you better hope he’s the coolest geek possible.  How about Christian?  He owns every X-files episode on DVD.  Yes, that should put your mind at ease when he’s writing your code.  He began developing his career by writing VBA for Microsoft Office Applications, custom Visual Basic applications and performing network/server administration for small to medium sized businesses.  He switched to website development with the beta release of Microsoft’s .NET framework.

In other words, we can take any information used on your website, stick it in a database, sort it, compress it, compare it, filer it and spit out what you need to see when you need to see it.  He manipulates code as though he’s part robot….which he might be.  Need to upload a video to your website and convert it to flash on the fly?  He can do that.  Need to sort through six thousand names and display the ones that that signed up for your newsletter?  No problem.  Need to design a “click here” button?  Better scroll back up to Steve’s profile.

“I like the online.”

Unrelated Talents:  Master of the Electric Guitar.  After drinking four Jolt colas at Norman's in Augusta, Ga. in 1986, he beat Moon Patrol without losing a single buggy.
